FILA gave us the opportunity to collaborate on a shoe together and we gladly jumped at the chance. We dug deep into their archive pulling out something special and remixing a model that hadn’t seen daylight in long time….!
Being one of the most iconic sports-brands of the early 70’s, FILA took flight in the early 90’s with endorsements by the likes of Grant Hill, The Beastie Boys, Wu-Tang Clan & Nas.
Established over 100 years ago in the Italian mountains, with a deep heritage in the outdoors. The Trailblazer was the stand out silhouette from FILA’s ‘Mountain Range’ in the 1990s, with its’ rugged out-sole and unique shape, it adopted by outdoor enthusiasts and the streetwear scene, proving particularly popular with the 90′s UK rave scene!
We have worked closely with FILA to resurrect the shoe close to it’s original form. The Trailblazer features a full suede upper with a robust black midsole sporting the classic FILA Logo, hiking D-Ring lace holes with the ‘Mountain’ logo rubber label stitched on to the ballistic mesh tongue. Other details include cord style laces and tonal stitching on the upper.
With the Trailblazer AM, the ‘AM’ referring to the Apennine Mountains located in San Marino, Italy, which was the birthplace of the brand, we wanted give the model an up to date twist. We added the blown rudder outsole, a tan leather beading, smooth nubuck for the upper and low key Footpatrol branding on the inner heel and some subtle changes to the profile.
The Trailblazer & Footpatrol x FILA Trailblazer AM are due to be released in-store on Saturday 28th January 2012. Trailblazer Red and Black, sizes UK6 – UK11, at £85, Trailblazer AM Navy and Tan, sizes UK6 – UK11, at £110.
