After a much successful collaboration last year, Japanese designer Taka Hayashi and Vans bring to you their latest instalment for spring 2011.
This time round, Taki Hayashi opted for the SK8-Hi shoe to work his magic on, and the final outcome is a beautifully crafted pair of sneakers. One could only truly tell where its’ SK8-Hi roots lie, which is by the toe-box stitch detail. The part canvas, part suede upper is enclosed in ostrich leather panels that sit either side of the shoe, also doubling up as eyelets for the laces to go through. For easy take on/take off action, rather than having the pull tab on the heel, there are two either side of your ankle. Other detailing includes an arrow print that sits on the mid-sole around the toe-box, ‘Native American’ style artwork on the tongue, triple-stitch detail on the ostrich panels, and the three-coloured outer-sole. It comes stocked laced with leather laces, and also has thin rope laces as an extra set, and a navy drawstring carry bag.
